Two best friends. Eight kids. A whole lot of turquoise, weird ideas, and absolutely zero interest in following the crowd.
Mallard Lee Turquoise was born from the friendship of Kelsey and Ashley—two best friends who have always loved the things that are a little different, a little funky, and definitely not for everybody.
We’re both moms of four. Kelsey and her husband have three girls and a boy, while Ashley and her husband have three boys and a girl. Somewhere along the way, our families stopped being “best friends’ families” and just became family. We do life together, laugh together, support each other, and keep each other a little crazy.
We’re also both in education, so when we aren’t building Mallard Lee behind the scenes, you can probably find us at school. Kelsey is a middle school counselor and Ashley is a middle school math teacher. And if you’ve found us on TikTok, you may know us from our OOTD & JOTD—because apparently middle school educators can have a little fun with fashion, too.
So, Where Did “Lee” Come From?
This part of our story means more than we could ever put into a product description.
Lee comes from Alexander Lee, Ashley’s son, who we lost in a tragic accident on July 4, 2026.
Alexander was the happiest, silliest little lover. He had a personality that filled a room, and he was deeply loved by both of our families. When Kelsey came to Ashley with the name Mallard Lee, we knew we couldn't pass it up.
We wanted to carry a little piece of Alexander forward with us—to keep his name, his joy, and his spirit woven into something that could continue to grow.
And honestly? We know Alex would have loved the weird, funky, colorful, slightly off-the-wall things we're creating.
So Lee isn't just a name. It's a piece of someone we love.
Why Mallard?
The mallard represents freedom, adaptability, resilience, and knowing where you belong.
And that feels pretty fitting for us.
We're not really interested in doing things the way they're “supposed” to be done. We like mixing things that shouldn't necessarily go together. We like a little weird. A little funky. A little Southern. A little western. A whole lot of turquoise.
We like going against the grain.
And turquoise? That's a no-brainer.
It's been a favorite for both of us for as long as we can remember, and we wanted to create a place where our love for turquoise, unique clothing, jewelry, and all things funky could come together.
This Is Mallard Lee.
Mallard Lee Turquoise is for the person who doesn't want to look like everybody else.
For the girl who wears turquoise with something unexpected.
For the person who walks into a room and isn't afraid to be a little different.
For the funky, the weird, the wild, the Southern, the western, the y'allternative, and everyone who has ever thought, “Yeah…that's not exactly my style, but I kinda love it.”
We're building Mallard Lee with a whole lot of friendship, family, faith, laughter, turquoise, and love.
